Our Services

Business Challenge

Oregon government agencies often struggle with execution and implementation of IT solutions, a primary contributor for this is limited use of good project management practices and business analysis techniques.

Many of these government agencies are looking for ways to increase their success rate of implementing program driven IT projects, process redesign and other strategic technology improvement initiatives.

Our Solution

Our services are based on 15 years of experience successfully implementing IT solutions for program partners in the State of Oregon. We understand how to creatively work through the resource and budget constraints that government initiatives typically struggle with.

Our approach is tailored to work in alignment with Oregon government oversight processes to enable program initiative success. We also have established relationships and an excellent reputation across multiple state agencies.

We've met with prospective clients to identify the services they believe will provide the most value to their organizations.

With this feedback, we've crafted our consulting business strategy around those services - see below for more details.

Project Health Assessments (expand for more info)

Service: An assessment report that provides objective information for leadership regarding the health of an existing project or initiative to assist in clarity and decision making.

Why it matters: When you've committed to a new IT project or initiative, it can be discouraging when it's not making progress the way you expected or hoped it would. Many times, you may feel that there's something "off", but you can't quite figure out what the issue is or why it's not working like you thought it should. Contributing to this sense of concern is often a lack of clarity or tangible information to help you make informed decisions regarding what to do.

You know the team you assigned for this project or initiative has the ability to complete it - and you trust them, but you don't know what direction to provide or how to help them move it forward. We can help you!

Description: Services include a project health assessment report that objectively assesses all aspects of a project or initiative; not just using PMI, Agile or other principles and practices, but also proven and successful best practices applied within Oregon government agencies that align with stage gate oversight processes.

Our project health assessment report is meant to be used as a tool to enable the success of your project or initiative. It's provided to be supportive of your team and be helpful in reflecting upon your optimal path forward.

This assessment report uses a health rating for each category and activity with detailed information and recommendations for remediation of issues or risks - so you can confidently:

1) Identify what the biggest challenges are,

2) See where you need to focus, and

3) Understand the options you have.

Project Leadership and Management (expand for more info)

Service: Direct leadership and management of a project or initiative to achieve specific goals and outcomes from initiation to closing.

Why it matters: When you invest in a new IT project or initiative, you need effective leadership to help your teams perform at their best and meet the intended goals and objectives. Whether it's kicking off a new initiative, helping get a project back on track, or supporting your teams in achieving success, we can provide the leadership you need.

Description: Services include performance of any or all of the project management processes related to the planning and implementation to achieve specific goals and outcomes from conception to closing as identified within the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), and International Standards Organization’s ISO/IEC/IEEE 16326-2009.

This service also supports and encourages use of a hybrid model of traditional (waterfall) project management methodology and agile best practices that have been consistently effective in delivering successful projects - and they are able to integrate seamlessly with Oregon DAS oversight processes.

Project Performance Oversight (expand for more info)

Service: Active project performance oversight assisting project leadership or teams in applying knowledge and best practices to successfully and effectively execute project activities in a manner that supports and reinforces oversight standards.

Why it matters: Overseeing an IT project or sponsoring a new initiative can be stressful time - particularly if you have limited time and experience. It's often difficult to know what questions to ask or where to focus attention when you feel that something isn't going as planned.

Our years of experience sponsoring, championing and leading IT projects in Oregon government agencies - as well as working with DAS/LFO oversight processes, gives us the capability to track your project's performance, assist your project leaders and keep you informed on critical initiatives.

Description: Services include active project performance oversight on complex initiatives to assist project leadership (Project Governance, Sponsors, Project Managers) or analyst teams in applying knowledge and best practices to successfully and effectively execute project activities in a manner that supports and reinforces oversight standards (such as Stage Gate processes).

This also includes active hands-on coaching using proven tools, templates and processes from our trainings to create an enhanced learning experience for project team members.
